"Moules" and nutella beignets? Yes please.

Hello again. On Thursday during class my group and I had to prepare a case study for our Cross-Cultural Management section over fast food in the Middle-East. After class was over, we ate dinner at a cute restaurant that is close by our apartments and got dinner crepes (ham, cheese, and a fresh fried egg!) That night we went to this club downtown called "Le Mix" that was free for international students on Thursday nights before midnight. It was very loud and crowded, but it ended up being really fun, and we met some other nice people living in our building on our way down there.

On Friday morning we woke up super early (6AM) to get on a bus to go to Normandy for the weekend, going first to Mont Saint-Michel. This place was built because the archangel Michael told a bishop in 708 AD to build a church atop the rock that it sits today. Many viewed it as a place to become closer to God and a way to communicate with Him because of it's elevated resting grounds. It is situated on a rock that at certain high tides becomes an island, only connected to the main land by a single road. When we went there was plenty of sand all around, so it wasn't exactly like all the pictures I've seen, but it was still a historic, beautiful building and charming "village" with breath-taking views from the top of the massive amounts of stairs.

After our guided tour and "free time" to roam the place, we left and drove to the sea-side town of St. Malo. We walked into town to get dinner, and it was POURING rain, but we found an awesome seafood restaurant where we had the whole upper floor to ourselves. All together, we ordered and shared whole crab, mussels, oysters, and a delicious fish soup.

Saturday, we went for a tour around this ancient walled city, learning all about the history of the area, eating more mussels and scallops, and walking along the gorgeous beaches.

Yesterday, Sunday, we went to the Musée d'Orsay and marveled at the vast collection of Impressionist paintings, with the artists Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Peirre-Auguste Renoir, and Camille Corot being my favorite. Even the building, an old train station, is beautiful enough to rival some of the art that is displayed. Pictures are not allowed inside the building, but this is us outside...

After the museum, we walked to the Jardins du Luxembourg. They are so vibrant and pretty, and there was even a Jazz concert going on while we walked around, making the great weather and beautiful scenery even better!

We had read about a famous Gelatto shop nearby the Notre Dame, so
of course we had to walk by to get an afternoon snack...
This weekend has been excellent. I cannot wait to see what this week has in store! Keep in touch, I'd love to hear from any of you reading this!
