Living the dream...

We had a great day of adventuring on Tuesday. After class we headed down to the famous Avenue des Champs Élysées. First, we stumbled upon Laduree, a pastry shop famous for their delicious "Les Macarons", so of course we had to get some to try out. They were as good as we expected.
We ate dinner down a side street (away from all of the overpriced food on the main street) after we did some shopping at H&M.
Once we were rested and full, we headed back out and up towards the Arc de Triomphe. We climbed all 284 stairs to the top to see the breathtaking 360 degree views of Paris.

That night we went out with almost our whole Marketing group to a bar called The Long Hop. It is owned by a UT grad, and Tuesday nights are "ladies nights", which was convenient considering our group is almost all girls. This is a picture of my roomate, Sarah and I outside our apartment building before we left for the night.

On Thursday, I met up with Lindsay Mechem, who is a Tridelt with me at UT! She is studying French here in Paris and living with a family, so we met at the Place d'Italie garden/metro station and found somewhere to eat, then wandered around that part of the city just catching up, hanging out, and exploring Paris.
Yesterday (Friday) we had an organized trip out to Versailles. The château and its' surrounding gardens are amazingly intricate and impeccable. The grounds are so huge that we did not get to see everything, but my favorite part was probably the gorgeous village that Marie Antoinette had built for herself so that she could "play peasant".

Today I went to Saint-Chapelle, the beautiful, gothic church with huge and fascinating stained glass windows. When the sun hit one of the windows, the whole upper chapel would glow and create a magical feeling that I can't even describe.

Then I walked around and eventually made my way to the Centre Pompidou and went into the museum of modern art. It was very different from all of the art I have seen so far in Paris, but it definitely was a pleasant diversion, even though I did not understand most of it. The outside of the building itself is a work of modern art!
